BSNL Tablets come with ‘Value for Money’ goodies

Since last couple of weeks, we have been getting several queries on BSNL Tablets. Though in the past we have published a couple on articles to help you know more about BSNL Tablet, BSNL Tablet Reviews and whether to buy BSNL Tabs or not, we thought of publishing one more article on BSNL  Tablets.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) announced its foray into the low cost tablets category with their BSNL tablets called Tpad. These tablets come with a lot of ‘Value for money’ offers for the public at large and come in three variants.

This new endeavor is possible due to its association with Pantel Technologies Pvt Ltd. This venture is aimed at getting a slice of the low cost tablet market that is currently filled with brands like Aakash 2 Tablets, Micromax, iball, Zync, Wish Tel’s Ira etc.

The tablets named Tpad are available in versions of IS701R, WS704C and WS802C and are priced at Rs. 3250, Rs. 10500 and Rs. 13000 respectively. The IS series is mainly aimed at the students and as a direct competition to Aakash tablets and the WS series are aimed at a more professional user with some premium features and a higher price bracket. Let’s have a look at what these tablets have to offer in terms of performance and other offers and data plans that BSNL has promised.

BSNL Cheap Android Tablet PCs for IndiaThe IS701R aimed at students comes with a 7 inch resistive touch screen, 1GHz processor, 256 MB of RAM, 2GB internal Storage and runs Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread. Further these tablets come with VGA camera, WIFI and USB slot, support full HD video playback and Accelerometer. This tablet will support 3G via external USB dongle and will not have SIM card support.

The offers on this particular tablet is that it will come with a 2G data plan that is valid for 90 days and a total of 7.5 GB of data download is free. This offer can be availed by paying Rs. 250 above the cost of this tablet. This comes down to monthly data charges of around Rs. 83 for 2.5 GB of free data usage. This should be more than sufficient for downloading decent number of apps, browsing internet, streaming some HD videos and checking emails etc. According to BSNL this plan leads to a monthly data saving of up to Rs. 200, when compared with data plan of same data usage in the market, which would mean that students who renew this plan can recover the entire cost of the tablet within 18 months.

The WS series aimed at the professional user comes with capacitive touchscreens, Bluetooth, SIM card support and 512 MB RAM with a built in storage of 4GB, which can be expanded via external memory card. Further these tablets have a 2MP rear and VGA front facing camera. The difference in the two WS series tablets namely the 704c and the 802c is the screen and processor. The WS704c comes with a 7 inch capacitive touch screen and 1 GHz processor. Along with this tablet the offer by Pantel and BSNL is that of a 3G data plan of 5GB data usage for 60 days at a cost of Rs. 750 which comes down to a monthly cost of Rs. 375 for 2.5 GB of 3G data usage. Again when compared to similar data plans in the market, this leads to a savings of Rs. 541. When compared over a period of 18 months this plan too enables the user to save money that is almost equal to the cost of the tablet that is priced at Rs. 10500.

The WS802c tablet has all features similar to the WS704c except for the bigger 8 inches capacitive touchscreen and the extra zippy 1.2 GHz processor. This one is priced at Rs. 13000. This tablet is however also upgradable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, according to the latest update by the company. The data plan offer on this one is the same as that on the WS704c and again that enables the user to recover a substantial amount of the tablet, via the savings through its 3G data plan offers.

Thus, by offering heavy discounts and attractive data plans, BSNL and Pantel have aimed at making sure their customers can benefit from their offer by enjoying 2G or 3G plans, at the same time save a lot on monthly expenditure and thus utilizing the full potential of these tablets without burning a hole in their pockets. This is a real unique way of promoting one’s product and while there are lots of competitors in the market, few have come up with such offers.
