Karbonn introduces more value-for-money affordable Android tablets

With the low cost tablet market beaming of high sales and great volumes, Indian companies have really put the foot on the peddle and have started coming up with some surprising tablets, with the latest software and strong set of hardware and costing well below Rs. 15,000 and most of them below Rs. 10,000. One such company is Karbonn Mobile. Karbonn Tablet was the first to introduce a low cost tablet running Jelly Bean, Android’s latest Operating system. However it is not the only tablet the company can boast of. It has a long lineup of Android based tablets costing from Rs. 5000 up to Rs. 10,000. It has recently upped the ante for making some good value for money tablets.

To this date, Karbonn has an impressive portfolio of tablets and it still keeps pushing the envelope with it every release. Karbonn Android tablet comes with all standard connectivity features and are sure to please most of its users. Its complete range of mobile tablets can be found below.

  • Karbonn Smart Tab ST8 Volex:  This latest addition in the lineup comes with an 8 inch capacitive touch screen and a resolution of 1024 x 768 running on Android Jelly Bean 4.1. The tablet is powered by a dual core 1.5 GHz Cortex A9 processor with a 1 GB RAM. For connectivity the tablet has all you can ask for from WIFI, USB, HDMI and even Bluetooth. The internal storage of 1.5 GB can be expanded via micro SD card up to 32 GB. 3G is available via external USB dongle. The tab has 3 MP rear and VGA front camera. These specs should be more than enough for your regular tablet needs from browsing the web to playing games and running apps from the Google Playstore. ST8 is priced at Rs. 6400.
  • Karbonn Smart Tab ST10 Comsic: This Jelly Bean tablet was launched along with the above mentioned Volex. All the above mentioned specifications and features are the same with this Karbonn Mobile Tablet, except for the screen size and battery backup to support the bigger screen. The Cosmic comes with a 9.7 inch touch screen and is similar in form factor to the iPAD. The battery is at 6000 m AH as against the Volex’s 4500. ST10 Cosmic is priced at Rs. 9500.

  • Karbonn Smart Tab ST7 Tornado: This is again a relatively new offering from the house of Karbonn Tablet. This is an 8 incher and runs on the slightly older Android OS aka Ice cream Sandwich 4.0. Its other specs too pale in comparison of the above tablets as the Tornado comes with a single core 1.2 GHz processor and 512 MB RAM. It has a 2 MP rear camera and a VGA front camera. It can play Full HD videos just like the others above but has only 1 GB of internal memory that is of course expandable. The screen resolution is 800 x 480. But the tablet is still quiet capable of handling most of the web browsing, apps and games from the Playstore, though not the heavy ones. But then again its priced at Rs. 5300 so can’t expect many miracles from it either.
  • Karbonn Smart Tab 1 and 2: Priced at Rs. 6,000, these are again single core and slightly older tablets from Karbonn Mobile. These also run on Android ICS OS and have identical specs to the Tornado above with the exception of the screen size. They come with a 7 inch screen. While other features remain the same you can expect the Tornado to have a better software performance compared to these ones as it is relatively newer while these are over 8 months old. However the Smart Tab 2 is now shipped with Jelly Bean OS out-of-the-box so its performance can be expected to match that of Tornado. This shows Karbonn’s constant endeavor to churn up better and newer devices at regular intervals. The Smart Tab 1 is permanently discontinued but has been mentioned here as it covers the entire range of Karbonn tablets.

There are two other tablets from Karbonn mobile but as they are older they may not be available in the market currently. They are Smart Tab 9 and Smart Tab 3 priced at Rs. 7,000 and Rs. 5,500 respectively. The ST 9 is a 9 Inch tablet running ICs and single core processor while the ST 3 is a 7 incher.

As you can see from the above list of Karbonn Tablets, the company has covered quiet a lot of base in terms of offering value for money tablets over the past year or so and has constantly updated its lineup and got rid of obsolete tablets and replaced them with new tablets at similar prices with better hardware and latest software. This has given the consumer better choices and avoided dilemmas associated with a lot of choices of similar devices, which a lot of companies have created in the market today.
