While not all low cost one’s are bad, some are better than most so let us have a quick look at which one’s you can buy letting others pass.

The tablet PC India market offers tablets ranging from Rs. 3,500 to Rs. 15,000. And while some of the entry level tablets are not that great, some mid-range devices ranging between 5000 to 10,000 bucks are worth your money and offer great performance. We look at the best tablet in the cheapest tablet market.

  • iBerry Auxus Core x 2 3G: While the name is quiet a mouthful its performance very satisfying. It’s a 7 inch capacitive tablet with a resolution of 1280 x 720 and a pixel density of 216ppi, which is same as that of Google Nexus 7 tablet. The hardware is solid with a 1.6 GHz Dual core processor, 1 GB of RAM and Mali 400 GPU with 8 GB internal storage and expandable up to 64 GB via micro SD card, the first budget tab to offer this amount of storage and hardware making it one of the best tablet PC in the segment. If that isn’t enough it also has Bluetooth 4.0 for connectivity, again a first and Android’s latest 4.1 Jelly Bean OS with a 4100 m AH battery and has a SIM card support for 3G calling as well as internet along with WIFI. HD videos and HI Res Gaming is smooth and enjoyable and it all comes for just Rs. 10,900. There’s also USB, HDMI and 3.5 mm jack and front facing camera. It is a great buy.

  • Karbonn Cosmic Smart tab 10: Again a long name and again a good device. 9.7 inch capacitive screen makes this tablet similar in form factor to an iPAD, but that’s about it. However, it is still a pretty good device worth your money. It has a 1.5 GHz Dual core processor with 1 GB RAM and 1.5 GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 32 GB. Like the iBerry, it runs Jelly Bean OS and has no issues running HD videos or most games from the Playstore. It has a VGA front facing camera and a 2MP rear camera with WIFI, USB connectivity and 3G is available via external USB dongle. WIFI, HDMI, USB, Bluetooth complete the solid connectivity package. • Micromax Funbook Pro: Its an old horse but is still going strong in the race for the best tablet PC. Android ICS, 10.1 inch screen, 1.2 GHz processor, 1 GB RAM, Mali 400 GPU, 8 GB internal storage expandable up to 32 GB, front VGA camera, WIFI, HDMI, USB etc. make it a potent tablet PC in its segment. Full HD videos play like charm without glitch even when played from external USB devices thanks to its USB on-the-go cable that’s bundled in. However, it can be said age is catching up to it when compared to others in the market as it can have slight lag on hi-res gaming and battery life can be on the lower side. Price is Rs. 9,000.

  • Micromax Funbook Talk and Micromax Infinity: The Micromax Funbook Talk is a rare breed of voice calling tablet among the cheapest tablets and currently runs  Android ICS OS. It has a 7 inch 800 x 480 capacitive touch screen, 1 GHz processor, 512 RAM, VGA front camera, SIM support for 2G and external USB dongle for 3G network, WIFI and USB connectivity. It has 4 GB internal storage and it is currently priced around Rs. 7000. Micromax Funbook Infinity on the other hand is much cheaper at Rs. 4500 and has a 1.2 GHz processor as compared to the Talk, but its does not have calling capabilities. Other features are pretty identical and if calling isn’t your priority on a 7 inch tablet, then the Infinity will save you around 2500 bucks for the same performance.

Other tabs worth mentioning which are between the Rs. 10,000 and Rs, 15,000 price range:

  • iBerry Auxus Core X 4 3G: This tablet is currently priced around Rs. 15,000 and has similar features to the above mentioned Auxus Core X 2 tab, but has a Quad Core processor in it’s heart with 9.7 inch screen and runs on Android Jelly Bean giving a smooth and stutter free tablet experience.
  • HCL Me G1: A typical HCL device, steady and reliable performance. This device will cost you Rs. 14000 for a 9.7 inch screen and a 1.2 Dual core processor and 1 GB RAM and has a rear and front camera of 2 MP and VGA resolution respectively. However being a typical HCL device it comes WITHOUT Google Playstore out of the box, so if you can live with it, its a pretty good device otherwise.

While there are several other brands offering similar tablets, these select few tablet PC are the one’s which perform better than others providing good value for money and satisfaction in usage. Google Nexus 7 and iPAD Mini along with Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 are also available at lower prices between Rs. 19000 to Rs. 21000, which is cheaper when compared to the pricing of other foreign tablets so if your budget permits these are very solid tablets. So once again, the above is a list some of the best tablets that won’t burn a hole in your pocket and justify their pricing as well; so take your pick.
